RINO of the Month October 2023

Senator Fred Baldwin

As the trees begin to change and the weather begins to cool, competition for the RINO of the Month Award is nevertheless heating up! After his constituents expressed discontent with his voting record, Representative Chadwick (HD 62, Converse, Natrona) angrily ranted to Cowboy State Daily- he even went so far as to say he won’t be “pushed around” by the desires of his constituents. Representative Zwonitzer (HD 43, Laramie) and Senator Hicks (SD 11, Carbon, Sweetwater) laughably claimed that high property taxes are not a statewide issue and therefore are not deserving of a statewide solution.

Nevertheless, October’s coveted award goes to none other than Senator Baldwin (HD 14, Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater, Uinta)– for the second time this year! During September’s meeting of the Mental Health & Vulnerable Adult Task Force, Senator Baldwin spoke of a need for a “bridge between the schools and the state” in order to funnel your children into a government-run mental health monitoring program.

Senator Baldwin doesn’t seem to believe that parents have any role in the mental health and wellbeing of their children- the teachers, school counselors, and undefined “state” entities will help your child when they are deemed to be in need. Who determines “need?” The “state,” of course!

Senator Baldwin’s dystopian idea of mental health is something out of the other major party’s handbook- not the Republican Party Platform.
