RINO of the Month September 2024

Dan Zwonitzer

Our September RINO of the Month Award goes to none other than the recipient of our first ever RINO of the Month Award, which was awarded in December of 2019.

In poetic form, this RINO’s last actions as a legislator have earned him his last ever RINO of the Month Award.

Representative Dan Zwonitzer (HD 43- Laramie) has spent two decades in the Wyoming Legislature, growing progressively (and aggressively) more liberal every year. In 2024, he received a whopping 0% WyoRINO Score.

After voting repeatedly for gigantic government, for tax and fee increases, against free market principles, and laughing openly about his poor record as a “Republican,” Zwonitzer was defeated in August’s primary election.

A few weeks later, the lame duck chaired his last Labor, Health & Social Services Committee meeting. With seven hours remaining in the work day, Representative Mike Yin (a real life Democrat!) requested that the committee close up shop early. Remaining on the agenda was a bill to prevent the Health Department from using tax dollars for sexualized drag shows (which they did earlier this year).

Representative Zwonitzer cast his last vote as a lawmaker to side with Democrat Mike Yin and end the meeting early.

A fitting end to this RINO’s career.

Term ends: 2025 (He lost the Primary)
